Edgar Allan Poe is arguably one of the most influential American writers, best known for his mysterious tales of the macabre. As I’ve started to work on a new collection of miniatures for Halloween, I thought it would be fun to create what I imagined Poe’s writing desk might look like!

The distressed black wooden desk is accompanied by a leather upholstered chair. On the desktop, you’ll find the beginnings of Poe’s “The Raven,” complete with ink stains from the feather quill pen. There’s also a book, an actual raven, and a candlestick to illuminate his work while he toiled late into the night.

Inspired by “The Tell-Tale Heart,” I sculpted an anatomical heart and attached it to a display stand.

And of course, any writer of stories of murder and mayhem could find inspiration in a human skull!

In Poe’s desk drawer, you’ll find two more pages from “The Raven” – the final stanzas, in fact, along with a pipe.

Under the desk, there are a few discarded pages of prose, and a book open to memorable passages from “The Tell-Tale Heart.”

I hope you enjoy this little relic of the past! I’ll be adding this one-of-a-kind collectible to my store soon, so stay tuned.

In addition to Poe’s writing desk, I found this portrait of the master himself hidden away in a dark corner of an attic! The photo of Mr. Poe is caked in years of dust and cobwebs, and there’s even a tiny handmade spider!
