A few months ago, I started working on a new roombox in between other projects. I had a garden scene in mind, and plenty of flower kits in my stash, so it seemed like a perfect fit! This weekend, I finally put the finishing touches on my corner garden, and I’m truly thrilled with how it turned out.

I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t garden AT ALL in real life, so I mainly based it on what I thought looked pretty!

All of the flowers were made from kits, laser cut sheets or my own designs cut on my Cricut Maker.

I made the brick beds following the same basic process outlined in my brick walkway tutorial. I also used foamcore covered in soil to plant all the flowers in the beds.

One of my favorite aspects of this scene is the dirt and grime I added to the tools, gloves, clogs, etc. That little detail adds such a sense of realism! I shared some of the products I used for weathering in a list of resources at the end of this post.

I really enjoyed making the birds for this scene. I’ve had a hummingbird visiting my backyard lately, so I was inspired to create a tiny little ruby-throated hummingbird to perch on the feeder.

I had it in my mind from the very start that I wanted to include a mischievous dog digging around in the garden, so I made sure to work that in to my plans. Luckily, I found an adorable little furred dog that worked perfectly, and I just love it!

And I couldn’t resist a little hedgehog, so why not?

When I was deciding what bird to include for this feeder, I was pretty much set on making a bluebird. However, when I started sculpting, I changed my mind at the last minute and decided to make a cardinal.

Now, I think it was kismet because cardinals are supposed to represent loved ones who have passed, and we lost our beautiful 17-year-old cat last week… so maybe this can be a small symbol of comfort in our time of grief.

I just happen to think chickadees are adorable, so I made one for the bird bath.

Since I hid a few little dandelions throughout the garden, I thought a sign about the weeds would be a cute addition.

I wanted to make a piece of wall decor that looked like wrought iron, so I made this sign on my Cricut Maker with black cardstock!

I made the wind chime from a bead cap, seed beads, a butterfly charm, and bugle beads.
