Saint Cloud, FL — September 8, 2025 —

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, miniature artist Erika Pitera has unveiled The Orpheum Theater, a scratch-built 1:12 scale homage to the cult classic’s enduring legacy.

The Orpheum’s façade glows with illuminated marquee signs announcing midnight screenings, framed by black, dark red, and gold Art Deco accents. Its brick walls are plastered with protest posters and graffiti — deliberate nods to the activism and resistance Rocky Horror has inspired for generations. Inside, a red-and-gold Art Deco lobby offers popcorn, candy, and Audience Participation kits stocked with every delightfully chaotic prop from toilet paper to toast, along with a life-size Frank-N-Furter standee for photo ops.

“Rocky Horror has been part of my life since my early teens,” says Erika Pitera. “Its music, message, and eccentricity struck a chord with me as a musician and theater lover. In the early 2000s, I saw The Rocky Horror Show on Broadway with my parents, and it was a life-changing experience. Around that same time, many of my closest friends were part of the LGBTQ community, some out and proud, others not. I didn’t call myself an ally back then. I just loved my friends and wanted to understand them better. Rocky Horror, with its themes of ‘otherness’ and belonging, helped me do that.”

Since its 1975 release, The Rocky Horror Picture Show has become a cultural touchstone for the LGBTQIA+ community, transforming midnight screenings into interactive celebrations of identity and defiance. In today’s climate of renewed attacks on queer and transgender rights, The Orpheum stands as both a tribute and a reminder: “Don’t dream it, be it.”
